George Davidson made two table lamps, both were in Cloud Glass
colours. The Good Companion Table lamp was registered in 1935. Both styles of
lamps were made until the late 1950s.

No: 804 The Good Companion Table Lamp Known Cloud
Colours: Amber, Green, Purple Size(s): 14 inches
high Date
Range:
1935 to 1957 Description:
This lamp was in production for over twenty
years. The design for the lamp was registered in 1935 (Design No 804952).
At that time there were a number of companies making glass table lamps. In
their advertising Davidson stated:
“The Good Companion Table Lamp has been designed to tone with a
room of almost any period. the outline is simple without being severe and
the diamond design catches and reflects the light giving a very rich
appearance. Unlike other glass table lamps the shade of the Good Companion
is held firmly in position by a simple and decorative screw fitting - it
cannot slip off. Added to this provision has been made to allow the shade
to be tilted so that the light can pick out the pipe you have dropped or
illuminate the wireless while you tune it in - an innovation that will at
once be appreciated"
After the Second World War, the lamp was
only produced in non-cloud colours and Amber Cloud.
